Cherry Blossoms!
Japan definitely gets a lot of press for its cherry blossoms...
But South Korea is an amazing place to see them too!
Last week was the peak on our side of the island, though on our trip to Love Land, the main road in Jeju City was still lined, for several kilometers, with trees bursting with the pale white and pink blossoms. Breeze blowing the petals around like snow. Just beautiful!
Near where we live, there is a park that's called 'Cherry Blossom Lane'. It's actually on Olle Trail 8, which we had hiked on in January, so we had seen in it's wintertime form. There's a stream that runs through landscaped rock lined by trees on either side, and a stone and grass trail winding beside. At that point, daffodils were starting to bloom. It was a calm, beautiful place then.
Going back last week, the place was transformed! All the trees were heavy with blossoms. A sweet scent to the air. And...so many people! Dressed up, posing for photos, mesmerizing by the wonderous flowers. Everyone enjoying this cherry blossom wonderland. Okay, the crowds...well, great people watching!
I was amazed that this park seemed to be so well thought out, specifically to reach it's height at these two weeks, when the cherry blossoms explode on the scene. Quite amazing.
Enjoy a few photos!
